Job Purpose/ OverviewMy client is looking to engage an Insurance Manager on a temporary basis whilst they look to recruit a permanet engagement. The key purpose of the role is to provide strong support to the Head of Insurance in advising on, formulating and managing insurance within the business. The role will be the primary senior contact for addressing insurance queries arising in the business units, including property damage and business interruption claims, and take the lead where necessary for business unit specific risks or projects.Contextual InformationThe role will work with the Head of Insurance and Senior Insurance Analyst to support the interface with the EDF Group insurance community, other external stakeholders as required, external brokers and insurers. The role will require detailed knowledge of a broad spectrum of insurance risk and will involve a great deal of autonomy with an ability to lead initiatives with business areas and manage the identification of insurable risk and maximise cost effective insurance structures within the EDF framework whilst effectively preparing board papers or external stakeholder updates a necessity. Real time decision making is required and flexibility of approach essential to deal with the varied risks presented by the business. There will be travel required to support ongoing business needs and also to support the nuclear new build and renewables businesses with specific project risks and concerns including construction and as they prepare new sites for operation. The Insurance Manager must be able to deputise for the Head of Insurance and therefore be fully conversant in stakeholder management at all tiers and have the ability to influence at all levels.Principal AccountabilitiesResponsible for supporting the Head of Insurance with the companys insurance arrangements.Key responsibilities will include:
  • Be responsible for the review and negotiation of key terms of contract insurance wordings ensuring alignment with agreed insurance strategy and the protection of the companys position on contractual risk.
  • Collate and manage the necessary information required to support the ongoing administration of the companys insurances. This will involve identifying and liaising with all key stakeholders and the presentation of findings to Insurance Markets.
  • Work with the Head of Insurance to formulate appropriate ongoing insurance arrangements for the business, ensuring that the various insurance programmes and schemes are fit for purpose, placed on time and within budget, and deal with emergent queries from the business units autonomously.
  • Support the maintenance of relations with all insurance brokers and manage the interface where required.
  • Responsible for liaising with all customers in the Renewables business, including EDF SA, ensuring a high level of customer support and advice is delivered in a timely manner. This will progress to implementation of strategy and delivery of support mechanisms during both the operational and construction phase of various on and offshore Renewables projects.
  • Responsible for preparing internal summaries, reports and correspondence to advise the Renewables business on their risk exposures, coverage and limitations of such and providing timely input for Board reports where required.
  • Provide expert advice and support as requested by the Head of Insurance to the New Nuclear Build business unit, particularly in relation to construction risk and future insurance obligations as the projects advance.
  • To maintain knowledge of the London and Global insurance markets, to ensure that any developments that have the potential to impact EDF Energy and/or EDF Group programmes are identified and effectively responded to.
  • Develop a network of contacts and manage effective working relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Qualifications and Experience
  • ACII qualified, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to deal confidently with people at every level of the organisation and wider Group
  • Ability to demonstrate sound commercial judgement and negotiation
  • Knowledge of construction insurance and experience in dealing with large project would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of power industry, with a focus on renewable energy
  • Financial and commercially astute
