HS&E Advisor Gateshead. CompetitiveWe are currently recruiting for an HSE Advisor to work at our clients Gateshead site.The HS&E Advisor will offer expert knowledge and skills in order to generate and promote a positive health and safety and environmental culture and play a key role in helping control occupational risk.The HS&E Advisor will ideally come from the Print or Manufacturing and will have the following duties and responsibilities
  • Lead and advise on behavioural HSE changes, aiming for a best practice and zero accident culture.
  • Site lead for environmental management
  • Provide expert HSE subject matter advice to all departments in line with legal and company compliance.
  • Management of the Environmental Management System as the site Environmental Lead and liaise with relevant local and government agencies.
  • Deputise for the HSE Manager in their absence.
  • Involvement in site HSE Policy, Organisation, Planning, Measurement and Audit/Review.
  • Advice departments on Risk Assessments, COSHH assessments and assessing specific hazards.
  • Perform HSE Internal Management System audits as part of the audit team.
  • Advise on the requirements and any noncompliance with regards to the PUWER regulations
  • Liaise with consultants, external authorities/bodies and contractors as required, such as the HSE, Local council, EA & BSI etc
  • Investigate all accidents and dangerous occurrences.
  • Work with the HSE Manager and the Company insurers and solicitors to minimise claims.
  • Compile HSE statistics and monthly environmental reporting statistics, statutory submissions and regulatory reporting.
  • Monitoring and control of contractors.
  • Provide leadership, advice and training in relation to HSE issues.
  • Contribute to the Management of Continuous Improvement.
  • To support the behaviour of HSE standardisation across the Group, sharing best practice and collaborating with colleagues outside of own sphere of business.
  • To ensure full participation in the performance development review (PDR) process and maintain an up to date record of all training and development activities/programs.The HS&E Advisor will have a NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Management and good working knowledge/understanding of current health, safety &environmental legislation.The HS&E Advisor will also have experience of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 management systems and a proven track record for collecting and analysing data and the ability to use it to create clear and targeted action plans with experience in IT applications (Power point, Excel, Word) and general report writing.
